CN 675 Addiction Counseling

This course provides an overview of the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of substance and process addictions. Participants gain a basic understanding of the psychopharmacology of addictive substances, treatment modalities, the roles and responsibilities of the professional counselor. Attention will be given to trauma-informed and trauma specific care, and self-help and/or support groups, as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment plan for addiction problems.
