ED 261 Foundations of Literacy

This course examines the implementation of the Science of Reading through scientifically based research on the cognitive, socio-cultural, linguistic, and motivational influences on literacy and language development. Students will investigate evidence-based reading research that addresses explicit and systematic teaching of the five components of reading. The learner will explore the history of dyslexia and the interventions and supports for diverse learners.
