DM 301 Data Mining

This course will continue to allow students to dive deeper into a specific type of predictive model. The Data Mine is starting with a deep dive into neural nets, but we plan to build out other modeling topics in the future. The 300-level course is a great opportunity for students to spend an extended amount of time taking a deep dive into a specific technique. Students must have a background in Python, R, or both coding languages. Potential topics include but are not limited to the following: introduction to neural networks, hyperparameter tuning for deep learning, CNNs and computer vision, and ethics in neural networks. Students will be required to write a paper and present a poster with faculty guidance upon completion of the course.
