Master in Healthcare Administration
Program Vision
In addition to supporting the overall mission of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, the Master in Healthcare Administration Program cultivates effective healthcare leaders with strong practical skills and ethical values prepared to address challenges of an evolving healthcare environment.
Program Goals:
- To provide students with a comprehensive knowledge base and skills in various aspects of healthcare administration theory and practice
- To assist students in developing qualities needed for leading healthcare organizations in an ever-changing healthcare environment
- To prepare students to implement principles of ethics and social justice within various healthcare settings.
Program Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the Master in Healthcare Administration Program students will be able to
- Demonstrate knowledge of the healthcare delivery systems, including the operational and financial aspects associated with each system.
- Explain the legal and regulatory environment in healthcare, including the implications for managers within the field.
- Recognize important trends impacting current policies to better recommend and adopt changes, as needed.
- Demonstrate the problem-solving and leadership skills needed to manage resources within the dynamic nature of healthcare administration.
- Demonstrate professional growth through research and scholarly discourse with peers.
Admission Requirements:
- Completed Application
- Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges
- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
- Personal Essay (250 words typed)
- Updated Resume
- 2 Letters of recommendation from people knowledgeable of the applicant’s professional or academic experience
*Applicants with GPA below 3.0 will be reviewed on the case by case basis.
Students can transfer up to nine (9) credit hours of graduate of work completed in other accredited Higher Education Institutions including Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Course requirements will apply.
How It Works:
- The curriculum is delivered online.
- Students can take either one or two classes every 8-weeks. Students completing two courses at a time can complete the program in 12 months, and those taking one every 8 weeks can complete the program in 24 months.
- All work, assignments, projects and examinations are completed through the online learning management system, Canvas, along with such resources as Skype, Adobe Connect, blogs and similar resources.
The implementation of the hybrid learning format coincides with the mission and vision of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, which prepares international students for service and leadership roles in a diverse and global society. Through a combination of campus-based and hybrid courses, qualified F-1 international students can complete the MHA curriculum.
