NU 560 Culminating Clinical Experience
This culminating course focuses on the integration of advanced patient assessment, applied nursing theory, and clinical decision-making for individuals across the lifespan within the collaborative model of outpatient primary care practice. Emphasis is placed on health promotion, wellness visits, and the diagnosis, treatment, and management of common acute and chronic conditions in individuals and families. The course includes structured didactic learning activities designed to strengthen clinical reasoning, diagnostic decision making, and preparation for national board certification, along with a 300-hour precepted clinical experience in outpatient primary care. Through increasing clinical responsibility and preceptor validation, students demonstrate readiness for transition to independent practice as a family nurse practitioner.
